Problem:

On a parallel circuit, R₁ is 2 ohms and R₂ is 4 ohms. Find the total resistance and total current draw on a 12V battery.

Solution:

R_T = total resistance in a parallel circuit
R₁ = 2 ohms
R₂ = 4 ohms
R_T = (2·4)/(2+4) = 8/6 = 4/3 = 1.3 ohms
1/R_T = 3/4
(3/4)·(12/1) = 9 amps
